100% FULL OF PHOENIX WRIGHT SPOILERS

Liek 4 realz.

No, really, I don't think there's going to be a single word in here that's not a spoiler.

So this Godot nut.
Once I got over making "waiting for" jokes (...that's a lie. I'm still making them. At every opportunity. And occasionally forcing opportunities.), I was naturally very curious to figure out who he was.

...

Okay, I'm lying.
I've been curious the whole time.
You could say that that paragraph up there was just a contrived way to make a "waiting for Godot" joke.
...
On to the real entry.

So I actually have been wondering this since long before I got the game... since I first heard it suggested that his identity was "mysterious." My first thought was that he was Jake Marshall. HEAR ME OUT. This wasn't a theory I developed on purpose. I was actually just looking at T&T's box at the store, looking at Godot--because honestly... what we can see is rather nice-looking. (Since this is what I also once thought of Zant, I should be cautious....) But *cough* that aside... I was naturally staring at his chin. Since there's not much else to stare at. And I was like HOLD IT! I've seen this chin before.
Whose chin did it look like? Why, Jake Marshall's, of course! Complete with goatee. I mean, he was always shaving it with that sharp object, so it was hard to ignore.

Fast forward. Yesterday I got it.
And yesterday I didn't even get to meet Godot, so all that matters is today.
As I was in court, I was wondering who he was. He was all suggesting that he wanted revenge and he was an enemy and blah blah blah he was drinking coffee. (I'm waiting, still, for this line to show up. I think it probably is from the game, though.) So I got to thinking... could Godot really be Marshall? He didn't really have too much reason for revenge. But who else has that skin tone? I asked myself.
THEN THE TERRIBLE THOUGHT HIT ME.
OHBOY. GANT. AND THE HAIR COLOR AND THE REVENGE AND THE OHBOY.

The problem with this theory, as well as the Jake Marshall theory, is that their canon-ness is... dubious, at best. "Rise From the Ashes" is only on the DS/imported version of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Now, I know for pretty-sure that Ema comes back in Apollo Justice due to sprites I've seen on Gaia (those Turnabout-sans impress me, they really, really do), but that doesn't make RftA canon... in fact, in Justice for All, it's implied that it's not canon, because Edgeworth is supposed to have left right after... um... you know, the DL-6 one. "Farewell, my Turnabout"? Or whatever? So that's in direct contradiction with the fact that he prosecuted Lana in RftA. (Though, the canon-ness of that case is really an interesting question. One Turnabout-san, with a fairly official-looking sprite, is Lily Marshall; additionally, there's the suggestion of Gant's existence with that picture that I mentioned when I babbled about the death penalty.)

So, being the canon freak that I am, I had to at least slightly discredit the Gant theory. However, despite that... and despite the dread I had that it was true, it was my primary theory for a few hours, up through just about the end of the second trial in "Stolen Turnabout."

And then, you know (..."you"? Who is this "you"? No one who reads this blog plays Phoenix Wright...), Mia went, "Objection!" And she's all like, >:|.
ANDTHENANDTHEN.
And then it showed Godot. And he was like, all ready to LISTEN TO HER.
...Once upon a time, Mia had a boyfriend. He was a lawyer. Given that he was interviewing a suspect, it can be inferred that he may have been... a prosecutor.
All this "was" is because... he died seven years "ago", aka seven years before Phoenix's third year as a lawyer.
Yes? We are comprede-ing?
Now let me see if I can get my series of thoughts in order.
My first thought was, "He didn't really die!"
But this isn't like Edgeworth... he didn't just die, he was poisoned, and there was an investigation and everything.
So then I was like... "Then... it's impossible? Maybe they were just really confused."
BUT HEY, BUT HEY, BUT HEY.
He was poisoned
With at least two teaspoons of a special, very lethal poison
IN
HIS
COFFEE.

YEAH.
COFFEE. AS IN WHAT GODOT'S "BLAH BLAH BLAH DRINKING."
THAT'D BE THE PART WHEN I SHOUTED, "HOLY CRAP!"
When I realized it, I mean. Which was after I'd finished the case and everything.
This... something like this... can it really be a coincidence?
"But wait!" the inexistent "you" says. "That still doesn't change the fact that A.D. is, without much of a doubt, dead."
You, being for all intents and purposes omniscient, probably remember his real name and whether his initials are "A.D." or actually "D.A." I don't.

Well yeah.
Story time again.
Once upon a time there was a lady who was a psychic. She was very powerful. However, one day she made a statement that was later labeled "false" and subsequently she was labeled a "fraud." (The actual veracity and authenticity of this statement were, in fact, unrelated.)
When she found herself a laughingstock, this lady disappeared. Poof.
She was then mentioned a great deal in the first Phoenix Wright game, less in the second. And now... in Trials and Tribulations... she's quite the topic of discussion again. So far.
Interesting, isn't it, hmm?

"WAIT A SECOND."
you say.
"YOU'RE NOT SUGGESTING--"

Oh I am.
I has a crackpot theory.
BUT EVEN CRACKED POTS CAN BE PUT BACK TOGETHER, AND I AM GOING TO COSPLAAAAAAY ADRIAN SOMEDAAAAAAAY! BOHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

How that Bleach reference got in there I'm not sure.

I am, indeed suggesting
that
Misty Fey
is channelling
Mia's boyfriend.

Yeah.

"But the body type--?!!"
Kurain Channeling Technique, kthx.
"But--Misty Fey was VERYWHITE. Godot is VERYNOT."
Kurain Channeling Technique. Kthx. If--pardon--Pearl can grow gigantic breasts out of nowhere in three seconds flat, you'd think Misty, who is much older and (I believe--don't remember this hyak'percent, but I think--) very, very powerful, could manage something like a change of skin tone. (Hair color does seem to be impossible; however, that may be because hair cells are dead and skin cells, at least the ones that make pigment, are alive.)
"But Godot is ABOY."
Miles Edgeworth's father was also, I can say with at least ninety percent certainty, ABOY.
"BUT YOU'RE CRAZY!"
I cannot deny the truth of that statement...

So, why? There are three "why"s to consider.
Why Misty would channel AD.
Why AD would become "mysterious prosecutor Godot."
Why the game designers would do such a thing.

The last shall be first:
Because we freaking deserve to meet Misty, darnit.
They keep talking about her and we deserve to meet her.

The second shall be... second:
Becaaaaaaaaaaause he misses his Mia. <33333

The first shall... go unanswered.
I have nothing.
Nothing. I have it.

EDIT:
You know, when I think, "It might have spoilers; I should avoid it," then it might have spoilers, and I should avoid it. -_- Stupid girl.
In any case, presuming that I am remembering correctly and his name was, in fact, Diego, then I am right about at least one thing. TAKE THAT, GLaDOS!
Also, it was "Turnabout Goodbyes."

You know, people each time make comments when anything is predicted to happen in 2012, like “fairly that is if the world is still here.” You do realize that the Mayans predict the creation will end on Dec. 21 (or 23rd)? So in all strong if anything is booming to happen in 2012 there is solitary the slimmest conceivability that the world hand down have ended first it happens.
